A three-vehicle wreck killed 28-year-old Alexis Gonzalez and injured a passenger on Interstate 11 southbound just north of Horizon Drive.
NHP reported that a Volvo semi-truck with a flatbed trailer was parked southbound on I-11, on the right-side paved shoulder at around 2:47 a.m. As per reports, the semi-truck had some technical issues and was parked on the right-side paved shoulder on I-11.
The semi-truck had orange reflectors behind the flatbed and the driver of the truck was also standing outside on the right paved shoulder. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Cruze, occupied by a driver and one passenger, was heading southbound when it went off the marked roadway, rear-ended the flatbed trailer and went under the flatbed.
The passenger of the car was taken to Henderson Hospital with non-critical injuries. Authorities named driver of the Chevrolet Cruze as 28-year-old Alexis Gonzalez from Las Vegas. The driver of the Cruze succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
