Authorities identified 26-year-old Jeremy Holton who died after a single-vehicle crash in Americus (Americus, GA)

Officials released the name of 26-year-old Jeremy Holton, a resident of Sylvester, as the man who died after a single-vehicle accident on Georgia 195.

The fatal car crash took place on September 5 at about 2:05 a.m. in which only one vehicle was involved. The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2000 Mazda Protégé was heading south on GA 195. The driver identified as Jeremy Holton lost control of the car and it began to rotate counterclockwise.

The car reportedly went across the centerline towards the east shoulder and initially hit a small tree with its front. The vehicle then continued to go south on a private property parallel to GA 195 and crashed into numerous other trees with its front.

Reports further showed that the car then hit a large tree with its front and rotated around the tree while overturning. The car finally collided with another tree with its rear while overturning before it came to an uncontrolled stop upside down. Holton received major injuries and was later declared deceased.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
