Authorities identified 19-year-old Miguel Figueroa, a resident of Palmdale, as the driver who died in a two-vehicle collision on Monday morning in the Pearblossom area.
The fatal car crash took place at about 4:54 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, on SR 138, just west of 126th Street East, according to CHP. Figueroa was traveling westbound on SR 138 in a 2007 Chrysler Sebring when, for reasons that are yet to be known, he swerved in a southwesterly direction, directly into the way of a 2003 Saturn Ion that was heading eastbound on SR-138, “causing a broadside collision,” the CHP report said.
Figueroa suffered major injuries following the accident and was declared deceased at the scene by the officials. The Saturn’s driver, identified as 45-yar-old Daniel Meneses, of Lancaster received major injuries and was rushed to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment. Alcohol or drugs does not seem to have played a role in the wreck.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
