Authorities identified 15-year-old Grayson Kennedy who died after a car crash in Camas (Camas, WA)

Authorities identified 15-year-old Grayson Kennedy, of Camas, as the teen who died Tuesday while riding to school with other students.

As per the initial information the fatal car accident took place at Southeast Nourse Road and 280th Court, approximately a mile from Camas High. The preliminary reports showed that Grayson Kennedy, a Camas High School sophomore, was a few weeks short of his 16th birthday when an SUV driven by another student ran off the road, crashed through a fence and into a house.

Kennedy succumbed to his injuries at a hospital Tuesday. It is unknown whether icy roads and winter weather conditions played a part in the accident, though a family member said that the SUV hit a patch of black ice. Grayson’s older brother, who was also in the SUV, had an injured shoulder and was set to return from the hospital on Wednesday evening. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
