According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Saturday in South El Monte. Officials confirmed that at least one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred at the entrance to a bike trail at Thienes Avenue and Parkway Drive. At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
Whether the victim was on the bicycle or on foot remains unknown. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the collision is yet to be determined. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
