At least one person died following a two-vehicle accident in rural Andrews County (Andrews County, TX)

At least one person was killed following a traffic collision in rural Andrews County.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place at about 8:17 p.m. about a quarter of a mile north of the intersection of 115 and FM 1788, about nine miles east of Andrews. The head-on crash involved a University of the Southwest bus or large passenger van and another vehicle. At least one person died as a result of the wreck. It is unknown if the incident caused any other injuries.

The road was shut down during the investigation and cleanup. Drivers were asked to expect the road closure for the next several hours. According to the school, the bus/van was carrying members of the men’s and women’s golf teams. University leaders said in a statement that the school is working to notify the families of all those involved in the crash. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
