A fatal collision unfolded near Tracy in the early hours of Thursday, leaving at least one person dead, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The multi-vehicle accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of Grant Line and South Bird roads in the unincorporated community of Banta. The officials have confirmed that multiple vehicles were involved in the collision. The events leading up to the crash have not been confirmed.
At least one person was fatally injured in the crash. Both eastbound and westbound lanes on South Bird Road were blocked due to the fatal crash, leading the CHP to issue a Sig-alert.
As of now, there’s no estimated time for the reopening of the roadway. The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.
