A fatal traffic collision unfolded on Wednesday evening along U.S. Highway 101 in Coyote, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The multi-vehicle accident occurred in the southbound lanes near the Coyote Creek Gold Drive onramp, with officers receiving word of the fatal crash just after 7 p.m. the number of vehicles involved in the collision has not been confirmed by the officials. The events leading up to the crash are not clear at this time.
At least one person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Some of the southbound lanes on the highway remained closed for over two hours before being cleared, according to the CHP.
