At least one person was killed following a wreck that forced the closure of the main highway route between Phoenix and Las Vegas on Friday morning.
As per the initial information, the multi-vehicle accident took place at around 5:30 a.m. that blocked both directions of U.S. 93, north of Wickenburg, which is 53 miles (85 kilometers) northwest of Phoenix. The US 93 was later opened again for traffic at about 8:38 a.m.
The early reports indicated that at least two vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the accident. A car ended up on an embankment next to the highway and a truck came to a rest on the opposite shoulder. Both had severe front-end damage. It is unclear if the crash caused any injuries. No other details are available.
The wreck remains under active review.
