On Thursday morning, a portion of Interstate 24 was blocked due to an overturned tractor-trailer in South Nashville.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place in the westbound lanes near the Briley Parkway/Thompson Lane exit at mile marker 54 at about 3 a.m. At this time, it is unknown if anyone suffered injuries as a result of the crash.
It is also unclear when the roadway will fully reopen to traffic. Inbound traffic to Nashville was affected for at least 3 miles with a few lanes closed near the crash site. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and adopt an alternate route. No further details were provided.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
