An auto-pedestrian crash killed a person in Northwest Austin (Austin, TX)

A pedestrian died after being fatally struck by a vehicle in Northwest Austin on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at about 2:36 a.m. in the 14100 block of W SH 45. Police say they saw the victim lying in the roadway who was later pronounced dead. The pedestrian who died was experiencing homelessness and was pushing a shopping cart when the collision happened.

There was a vehicle nearby with visible damage but no occupants inside. At least two cars struck the victim, but the occupant of the second vehicle remained on the scene. All eastbound lanes of N SH 45 between Parmer and 620 are blocked. Authorities did not provide any other updates regarding the crash.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
