An auto-pedestrian crash killed a 45-year-old woman near Shields Avenue and West (Fresno, CA)

A 45-year-old woman lost her life in a fatal pedestrian accident near Shields Avenue and West on Sunday morning.

As per the Fresno Police Department, the incident happened near Shields Avenue and West at around 8:00 a.m. The police revealed that the woman laid on the ground in the parking lot of the 99 Cent Only store when the unfortunate crash took place. A female driver could not see the woman on the ground and ran her down. On arrival, responders rushed her to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities confirmed that the victim was homeless, but they have not yet identified why she laid on the ground.

The driver has been cooperative with the authorities and authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

An investigation is underway.
