An 83-year-old man, of Sparks, lost his life in an accident on Sparks Boulevard.
On August 22nd at around 4:30 p.m., Sparks police, Sparks fire and REMSA paramedics actively responded to the area of Sparks Boulevard and Baring Way on reports of a single-vehicle accident. The preliminary investigation showed that a Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper was going directly behind the vehicle southbound as it approached Baring Way.
The vehicle signaled to turn westbound onto Baring Blvd, but did not take the turn and crashed into a light pole. The NHP trooper quickly contacted the driver who was unresponsive. Then, the trooper began lifesaving measures until Sparks Fire and REMSA came at the scene.
The driver, an 83-year-old Sparks resident, was then rushed to a local hospital where he was later declared deceased. Through the investigation, it is believed that the driver experienced a medical episode before the crash. Drugs and Alcohol do not seem to have played a part in the accident. The identity of the victim remains unknown at this time.
