A wrong-way crash killed one person and injured three others near Montague Expressway and Highway 101 (Santa Clara, CA)

On early Sunday morning, a person lost their life and three others received injuries in a wrong-way crash near Montague Expressway and Highway 101.

As per the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place near the Montague Expressway interchange with Highway 101 at around 4:30 a.m. Reports showed that a northbound Toyota Corolla was going in the southbound lane when it crashed head-on with a southbound Toyota Camry. After the first crash, a southbound Nissan Sentra slammed into the Camry.

On arrival, first responders declared the Corolla driver deceased. Paramedics took three people to a hospital and the extent of their injuries remain unknown. The authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.  All lanes of the highway have long since opened again for traffic.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
