On Wednesday morning, a man lost his life following a two-vehicle collision on the Loop 101 in Glendale.
The fatal car crash took place on the Loop 101 Agua Fria freeway near Cardinals Way at about 1:30 a.m. The early reports indicated that a man driving a white Kia entered the Loop 101 at Cardinals Way in the wrong direction. He was reportedly going southbound in the northbound lanes when he collided with a semi-truck.
On arrival, emergency crews rushed the driver of the Kia to the hospital where he was later declared dead. The driver of the semi remained uninjured. Officials believe impairment was involved in the fatal crash. Northbound Loop 101 was shut down at Camelback as crews worked at the scene, but the freeway was back open at approximately 6 a.m.
An investigation is ongoing.
