A wrong-way collision on Interstate 10 and US Route 60 led to a fatality (Phoenix, AZ)

One person was killed following a wrong-way collision Wednesday morning on Interstate 10 and US Route 60.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place at about 3:20 a.m. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle traveling on the wrong way crashed into a semi-truck. The wrong-way motorist succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The occupants of the semi remained unharmed in the crash. The westbound lanes of the interstate were shut down while crews worked at the scene. The area has long since reopened. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
