A wrong-way accident killed a bicyclist in Mission Valley (San Diego, CA)

On Tuesday night, a male bicyclist lost his life following a wrong-way accident in San Diego’s Mission Valley area.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a bicyclist was westbound in the bike lane along the 2100 block of Camino Del Rio South just before 9 p.m. Just then, the female driver who was traveling the wrong way struck the bicyclist with the front left corner of her 2018 Nissan Sentra.

The cyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene as a result of the collision. The driver remained unharmed in the accident. As of now, DUI is not suspected on the part of the driver. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
