In a tragic incident on Sunday night, a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Solano County claimed the life of a woman. This was confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 10:14 p.m. It involved a speeding Nissan Sentra in the No. 1 lane of eastbound I-80, west of Richards Boulevard. Simultaneously, a Nissan Maxima was travelling in the No. 2 lane ahead of the Sentra.
The Maxima attempted to merge into the No. 1 lane, but unfortunately, moved directly into the path of the Sentra. The two vehicles collided. One person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim has not been disclosed.
Four other individuals sustained minor to moderate injuries across both vehicles. Authorities have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash.
