A woman died after a car rear-ends a semi-truck in Van Nuys (Los Angeles, CA)

On early Monday morning, a female lost her life after a car she was driving crashed into a semi-truck in Van Nuys.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Odessa Avenue at 2:13 a.m. The early reports showed that a woman in her 20s fell asleep or became unconscious while driving a Toyota Prius westbound on Victory Boulevard and ended up drifting and hitting a big-rig truck from behind.

She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the big-rig remained unharmed in the collision. On arrival, officers found an open container of alcohol in her Prius. It is unconfirmed if alcohol played a part in the crash. The intersection was closed down for several hours while crews worked at the scene.

The incident remains under active review.
