A vehicle struck and killed a woman when she was lying beneath blankets in Long Beach parking lot (Long Beach, CA)

On Monday, a vehicle hit and killed a woman who was allegedly lying beneath a pile of blankets in a Long Beach business parking lot.

The tragic incident took place in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard, as per police. A 27-year-old Los Angeles man steering the 2010 Scion XB struck the woman. The driver involved in the fatal collision stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

It is unknown if the victim was homeless, but Long Beach Police said that she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.

Authorities will continue to investigate the crash.
