A vehicle struck and killed a woman on I-5 near Woodland (Woodland, WA)

On Tuesday, a female pedestrian died after a vehicle fatally hit her on Interstate 5 near Woodland.

The fatal incident happened at about 7:45 p.m. near mile marker 22. According to Washington State Patrol, the woman was in the center lane of southbound lanes when she was struck by a 2019 Lexus RX driven by a 69-year-old man from Olympia. The woman died at the scene.

On arrival, medics took the driver of the car to St. John Medical Center. He was reportedly wearing his seatbelt and is not facing any charges. Drugs or alcohol did not seem to have played a role in the crash. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed at this time.

An investigation is ongoing.
