A vehicle struck and killed a scooter rider in Central Austin (Austin, TX)

On early Saturday morning, a scooter rider died after being hit by a vehicle in Central Austin.

The fatal two-vehicle accident took place at about 2:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of Newfield Lane, just south of the intersection of MoPac and Enfield Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the scooter was going down Newfield Lane when a vehicle traveling along the roadway hit the scooter.

On arrival, emergency crews performed life-saving measures on the adult patient, but the victim died of their injuries. The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers. No other details are immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation.
