On Wednesday morning, a male pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on 5 Freeway in La Mirada.
The fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place south of Alondra Boulevard in La Mirada at about 5 a.m. The early reports showed that a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe moving at about 65 to 70 mph hit the man. At this time, it is unknown why the man was running across the northbound 5 Freeway. The pedestrian died of his injuries at the crash scene. The authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.
According to the officials, Tahoe was then hit by a Toyota Prius from behind. The 38-year-old Murrieta man driving the Toyota, the 46-year-old male driver of the SUV, and the two SUV passengers, including a 36-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, remained uninjured as a result of the collision. All the involved people remained at the scene after the accident. The three occupants of the SUV are from Fort Collins, CO.
The crash remains under investigation.
