On Tuesday afternoon, a woman lost her life and a man sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Taft Highway and Old River Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 1:56 p.m. on Taft Highway and Old River Road. According to reports, a northbound pickup truck traveling on Old River Road swerved towards Taft Highway and crashed into an eastbound semi-truck.
On arrival, responders declared the female driver of the pickup deceased while medics rushed a male passenger of the pickup to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials shut down the highway, but it has reopened now.
An investigation is continuing.
