On late Wednesday night, two women lost their lives in a two-vehicle crash in Glendale.

The fatal incident took place at about 10:30 p.m. close to 59th Avenue and Camelback Roads. According to the preliminary reports, two vehicles were involved in the accident. Police said that a sedan was travelling east on Camelback Road from 59th Avenue when it attempted to turn into a private drive and was hit by an SUV in the process that was going west on Camelback Road, approaching 59th Avenue.

Both women in the sedan succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The man driving the SUV has been processed for DUI, police confirmed. Police believe that impairment played a part in the deadly collision. Authorities will release the identities of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.
