A two-vehicle crash injured a bicyclist at Union Avenue and 19th Street (Bakersfield, CA)

On Tuesday afternoon, a bicyclist received major injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Union Avenue and 19th Street.

As per the initial information, the bicycle accident occurred at about 4:36 p.m. on Union Avenue and 19th Street. Initial investigation showed that a bicycle and a vehicle were involved in the crash. The collision happened when a westbound bicyclist ran a red light and went into the way of a southbound vehicle that had a green light.

On arrival, paramedics rushed the bicyclist to the hospital with major injuries. On the other hand, the female driver of the vehicle remained unharmed. She stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Officials confirmed that speed, drugs and alcohol did not contribute to the crash. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
