On Saturday, two people suffered injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Lynnwood.
Officers actively responded to the intersection at 188th Street Southwest and 36th Avenue West at about 9 a.m. after getting reports of a traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed that one vehicle crashed into another, causing the second vehicle to roll and go off the roadway.
On arrival, emergency personnel took a 52-year-old Lynnwood man to Harborview Medical Center with non-critical injuries. According to the officials, a 21-year-old Seattle man was driving under the influence when he disregarded a red light and struck the victim’s vehicle. The suspect was also transported to Harborview, but his injuries are not serious.
The causing driver is facing possible charges for reckless driving, DUI and vehicular assault. Road closures were in effect on 188th Street Southwest westbound at the 3400 block and eastbound was shut down at 40th Avenue West. 36th Avenue West northbound was blocked at the 19400 block and southbound was shut down at the 18400 block. Officials have not provided any estimated time of the reopening of the roads.
An investigation continues.
