On Monday, a two-vehicle accident sent one person to the hospital in Ferndale.
The investigation revealed that the Cadillac was traveling north on Olson Road when it failed to yield at a stop sign at the 2-way stop intersection. The Toyota was eastbound on Mountain View Road when it crashed into the Cadillac on the driver’s side. Officers responded to the intersection of Olson and Mountain View Roads at around 11:30am after getting reports of a crash with one vehicle partly submerged.
On arrival, they found that the driver of a Cadillac was unable to come out of their car on their own after it fell in a pond, northeast of the intersection. The vehicle was reportedly damaged from the driver’s side. Rescuers used a ladder to reach the back of the Cadillac, removed the rear window using hydraulic tools and lifted the roof to enter into the car.
They later opened the passenger side door and freed the driver from the vehicle. Paramedics transported the driver of the Cadillac by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-critical injuries. The other vehicle, a Toyota Prius, had three occupants who were provided medical aid at the scene and released. The Toyota came to a stop upright in the intersection with substantial front end damage.
The crash remains under review.
