On Sunday morning, two people received injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 and Victoria Avenue.
The incident took place at around 8:15 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 and Victoria Avenue. On arrival, emergency crews found two vehicles with major damage on the road. One vehicle landed upside down with a person pinned inside. Reports revealed that a Nissan Armada SUV slowed down due to debris from a previous crash on the highway.
At that point, a white older-model Toyota van struck the SUV from behind. The force of the crash caused the Armada to roll over and land on its roof. On arrival, fire crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate the male occupant from the Toyota van. Then, an ambulance rushed him to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. Responders also transported the Armada’s female driver to Ventura County Medical Center with moderate injuries.
As of now, the authorities haven’t disclosed the current condition of the two victims. The incident led to the shutdown of all southbound lanes. The authorities soon managed the traffic through on the far left lane. By 9:30 a.m., all southbound lanes have reopened again for traffic. According to the CHP investigators, alcohol or drugs did not contribute to the crash.
The crash remains under review.
