On early Thursday, a road accident on the Bay Bridge shut down several westbound lanes for around an hour, causing backups into San Francisco.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place on the Bay Bridge, west of Treasure Island. It is unknown if anyone suffered injuries as a result of the collision. Officials announced a Sig-alert at around 5:20 a.m. for lanes 3, 4 and 5 blocked on westbound Interstate 80 going into San Francisco.
All lanes were back open at approximately 6:15 a.m., but residual delays were expected. The events that have led up to the accident remain unclear at this time. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
