On Friday morning, one person died following a traffic accident in Upshur County.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place near the intersection of State Highway 300 and FM 726 at around 9:30 a.m. Officials believe that the incident involved an 18-wheeler and a passenger car.
At least one person was killed as a result of the collision. One person was flown to a local hospital through a medical helicopter. Northbound traffic was shut down on SH 300; however, one lane was open on the southbound side of the road. Officers rerouted the drivers to FM 726 as crews worked at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
