On Tuesday, a 20-year-old woman received injuries following a two-vehicle accident on I-82, south of Union Gap.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place at about 1:47 p.m. Reports showed that two drivers, a 20-year-old woman in a 2006 Toyota Camry and a 21-year-old Wapato driver in a 2000 Honda Accord were traveling westbound on I-82; just south of the Union Gap city limits.
Officials mentioned that the Wapato man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the woman’s vehicle. On arrival, paramedics took her to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The woman’s vehicle suffered major damage as a result of the crash.
Both drivers were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Authorities said that impairment from drugs or alcohol has not played a role in the collision. The Wapato man was charged with improper lane usage. As of now, Crews have not provided any details about the current condition of the injured woman.
The accident remains under active review.
