On Sunday, 2 people were injured following a two-vehicle accident in the area of Avenue A and County 16th St.
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office actively responded to the crash scene at about 1 a.m. As per the initial information, a tan 2018 Chevrolet Cruze sedan and blue 2010 Ford F150 truck were involved in the collision. The preliminary reports showed that both vehicles were heading northbound on Avenue A when the truck tried to pass the sedan as they arrived at County 16th Street.
For reasons under investigation, the truck then collided with the sedan after the Chevrolet-Cruze driver entered the southbound lane. The impact of the crash caused both cars to veer off the road before coming to rest on the west side of Avenue A.
On arrival, paramedics rushed the sedan driver to Yuma Regional Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. Afterwards, the driver reportedly was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital for additional treatment.
On the other hand, the truck driver remained unharmed following the accident. The passenger in the car with him incurred minor injuries; however, she refused medical treatment. Alcohol does seem to have played a part in this collision.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
