A two-vehicle collision hospitalized 2 people on I-5 in Lynnwood (Lynnwood, WA)

Two people suffered injuries following a traffic collision in Lynnwood.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place on Interstate 5, near 164th Street Southwest in Lynnwood. The preliminary investigation showed that a red Nissan Xterra was heading southbound on Interstate 5 when it drifted off the roadway just after midnight and crashed into an unoccupied Hyundai Sonata that was parked on the right shoulder.

Drugs and alcohol are believed to be involved in the accident. Both the occupants were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. The vehicles were badly damaged and had to be dragged from the scene. The driver of the Nissan, a 28-year-old Bothell man, and his passenger, a 38-year-old Mountlake Terrace woman, were both transported to Providence Medical Center in Everett in unknown condition. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
