On Monday, a two-vehicle crash resulted in two fatalities, including an unborn child.
As per the initial information, the incident took place at about 9:20 p.m. The preliminary reports revealed that a 2016 BMW 320 Sedan was heading westbound on Jackson Street and rear-ended a 2014 Nissan Sentra, that was attempting to turn from Jackson Street onto Maureen Street.
Both vehicles had a severe damage following the collision. The driver of the BMW succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The Nissan was occupied by three people, who were taken to a local hospital for injuries ranging from minor to severe. One of the injured victims was 37 weeks pregnant. Due to injuries suffered in the crash, the unborn child passed away. The toxicology tests are pending.
The Alexandria Police Department is looking into this crash.
