Interstate 10 westbound was shut down after a two-vehicle accident near Wilmot Road that led to the toxic spill. The incident was described by the authorities as a minor injury crash, involving a tractor-trailer that is leaking a poisonous substance. The early report showed that the truck was carrying isocyanate, which is toxic.

The crash took place in the westbound lanes, which are likely to remain blocked for several hours. The roadway is shut down at Kolb Road and traffic is being redirected to Valencia Road and then back to the interstate. The eastbound lanes of I-10 were later opened again after the scene was cleared.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
