On Saturday morning, four people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck on I-10 West in Crowley.
The three-vehicle pile-up took place on Interstate 10 westbound, close to Exit 80. The preliminary investigation showed that an SUV going eastbound crashed into a semi-trailer truck and another vehicle. The semi then went into the median while the SUV rolled out into the median and hit a vehicle in the westbound lane.
One person was ejected from one of the vehicles as a result of the collision while two others were rescued. The fourth victim received life-threatening injuries. One victim involved in the crash was a juvenile under the age of two. All the four victims were transported to local hospitals. All of them, except the driver of an 18-wheeler, are in critical condition at this time.
The driver of the 18 wheeler was evaluated, but they seemed shook up, officer stated. Toxicology report for the driver of the SUV is pending. All lanes have reopened, but westbound lanes of Interstate 10 were shut down for personnel vehicles at about 8 A.M until 11:19 A.M.
The incident remains under investigation.
