A single-vehicle crash killed a 28-year-old Chula Vista man on Interstate 5 (San Clemente, CA)

On Saturday morning, a 28-year-old Chula Vista man lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on an off-ramp from southbound Interstate 5 in San Clemente.

The California Highway Patrol got the news of the fatal incident at the Avenida Calafia exit moments before 4 a.m. The 28-year-old victim was steering his 1997 Ford Explorer southbound in the fast lane when he swerved to the right as a result of which the SUV overturned. The impact ejected the man from the vehicle and both he and the SUV came to rest on the Avenida Calafia off-ramp. Authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.

An investigation is continuing.
