On Monday, one person lost their life following a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton.
According to California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident took place at around 5:30 a.m. when a northbound sedan hit a center-divider guardrail north of Las Pulgas Road and then swerved off the eastern edge of the freeway.
As a result of the crash, the car flipped over and came to a stop on its roof about 40 feet from the roadway. The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time.
The authorities will continue to investigate the cause that led to the crash.
