On Monday morning, a teenage girl lost her life following a single-vehicle accident on Lorton Avenue near Howard Avenue.
The incident took place at about 4:00 a.m. in the 100 block of Lorton Avenue between Howard and Bayswater avenues. On arrival, authorities found a teenage girl in the front seat of a Black Acura SUV with injuries. Paramedics rushed her to a regional hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Police detained the male teenage driver for several charges.
Burlingame police released a statement that “We do believe speed was a factor, and we are looking into the possibility that alcohol was involved, It’s not an area where we have historically had these types of collisions”. Authorities submitted a case to the Juvenile Division of the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
