On Tuesday, a solo-vehicle accident killed a driver on Highway 1 in San Mateo County.
As per the initial reports, the deadly crash occurred on highway 1, just north side of Pomponio State Beach. California Highway Patrol stated that a white F-150, registered in Half Moon Bay, was involved in the crash. On arrival, authorities declared the driver of the pickup truck deceased.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office will reveal the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin. CHP stated that fatal crash happened sometime before noon and possibly overnight.
As per the preliminary investigation, the pickup truck was heading southbound when it went off the road for an unknown reason, traveled through 200 feet of foliage, went down an embankment and came to a stop on a beach, the CHP said.
The driver of truck was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was partially ejected from his vehicle, the CHP added. It is still unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in crash, the CHP concluded.
An investigation is continuing.
