On Wednesday, an 18-year-old girl lost her life in a single-vehicle crash at Highway 4 just west of Somersville Road in the City of Antioch.

The fatal incident took place at about 10:17 a.m. wherein only one vehicle was involved. On arrival, CHP determined that a 2000 Toyota Tundra had crashed and overturned as a result of which the female driver was ejected from the vehicle onto the roadway.

According to CHP, it seems that the female driver was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and suffered critical injuries. Medics rushed her to John Muir Hospital in Concord where she later died. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed at this time. As of now, officials have not confirmed if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

An investigation is underway.
