On Saturday afternoon, a fire hydrant was taken out after a big rig crashed into it in Kennewick.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place on Clearwater Ave and S Van Buren St. near O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Multiple agencies responded to the scene. The early reports showed that the semi misinterpreted the turn and took out the fire hydrant as a result of which there was massive flooding in the roadway.
It is unknown if anyone suffered injuries. Traffic going eastbound on Clearwater Ave was reduced to one lane for at least one hour. Officials said they are bringing a vacuum in to clear the water and a skid steer to clean up the wreckage. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
