On Monday morning, a male pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a semi-truck on Highway 178 and Union Avenue.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at about 10:16 a.m. on eastbound Highway 178 at Union Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicated that a semitrailer truck hit a male pedestrian for reasons that are yet to be known.

On arrival, emergency responders declared the man dead. The authorities shut down Highway 178 except for one lane at Union Avenue as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
