On Saturday morning, an accident involving a jackknifed semi-truck blocked State Route 28 for hours.
The incident took place just north of the Sand Harbor park entrance which snarled the traffic just as the park was opening on July 10. Officials closed the highway and reopened it at about 11:30 a.m.
Authorities mentioned that the accident occurred when a CMV towing a trailer was moving too fast and it failed to stop in time for the traffic at Sand Harbor. The Prius driver did not receive any serious injuries as a result of the crash. Officers have not released any other details regarding the crash at this time.
The incident remains under active review.
