On Wednesday, a Detroit man lost his life following a rollover crash in Jackson County.
The fatal car crash took place at around 8:45 a.m., on eastbound Interstate 94, east of Hawkins Road in Leoni Township. When officers arrived, they found a 2007 Jeep Compass resting on its top, south of the roadway. The early reports revealed that the vehicle flipped over and the driver was ejected in the process. The car ended up on top of the subject, trapping the driver underneath. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Responders used specialized air-bag extrication equipment to rescue the man from under the vehicle. The driver was then transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health, where he later succumbed to his injuries. According to the officials, the victim is believed to be a 21-year-old man from Detroit.
An investigation is continuing.
