A 25-year-old Aptos woman died in a rollover crash on Freedom Boulevard in Santa Cruz County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 2:00 p.m. A Volvo XC driver drove off the road and hit the woman on the south shoulder. Afterwards, the Volvo flipped over onto the shoulder.
Resultantly, the female pedestrian died due to critical injuries at the scene. Later, medics shifted the passenger in the vehicle to a local hospital for moderate injuries.
Additionally, the CHP confirmed that the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Currently, the authorities continue to investigate the accident. However, officers believe that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
