On Wednesday morning, a 33-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after a rear-end crash in the east Las Vegas Valley.
The tragic incident took place moments before 5:45 a.m. at Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Officials reported that a GMC work truck was stopped facing westbound on Tropicana at a red light when a Hyundai Elantra struck the GMC from behind.
On arrival, medics rushed the driver of the Hyundai, a 33-year-old woman, to an area hospital with a head injury. Her injuries were considered as life-threatening. Authorities mentioned that impairment was suspected on the part of the Hyundai driver.
On the other hand, the driver of the GMC remained at the scene and did not receive any injuries as a result of the accident. Officials closed the entire intersection for investigation. The identity of the victim has not been revealed at this time.
The incident remains under active review.
