On Saturday morning, two people lost their lives in a rear-end crash on Golden State Freeway near 405 Freeway.
According to the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place on the southbound Golden State Freeway just south of the northbound 405 Freeway at about 12:57 a.m. The preliminary reports indicated that a silver sedan struck a big rig form behind on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway.
The sedan then reportedly caught fire due to the impact. Authorities confirmed that two people in the sedan were killed as a result of the crash. It is unclear if anyone in the big rig received any injuries following the accident. CHP announced a Sig Alert at around 1:28 a.m. Officials requested everyone to avoid the affected area and to adopt alternate routes.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
