A multi-vehicle pile-up trapped a person in a semi-truck after the truck flipped over on Highway 18 at West Valley.
The semi-truck struck several vehicles before rolling over an embankment and landing in a small body of water. Crews said that they were working to rescue the person trapped in the semi-truck in the water.
The person was pinned upside down inside the semi-truck, and crews were able to extricate him from the metal. Four people suffered injuries but their injuries did not seem to be critical. Authorities shut down the right lane eastbound on SR 18 and the on-ramp for several hours and asked the drivers to avoid the area and expect heavy delays. WSP said it seemed that brake failure resulted in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
